About Me
Hi! My name is Shena and I am the founder of Not Another Vet Nurse! I knew I wanted to work with animals since I was 10 years old. I got my degree in Veterinary Technology and my License in 2009. I have been in the field since 2006. It's been a long haul! I am mostly an emergency/critical care technician. That is where my heart was the most happiest.

With emergency medicine comes a lot of stress. I found myself overworked, exhausted (mentally & physically), and extremely depressed. I was fighting with coworkers, friends, and even family. These are things they never teach you in school. Nor do they have the resources for them in the field.

My final straw was a HBC (Hit By Car) that came in that inevitably passed away. I had to get out. I had to take a break.

During my break, I found myself very lost. All I ever knew was veterinary medicine. But I was TERRIFIED to go back. I had panic attacks just thinking about it. I suffer from anxiety, and constant hallucinations of animals running into the roads, and strange noises triggering me to panic.
I wanted to create a space for others who may be going through what I was. I also wanted to make a space for people to come and not feel alone. To feel accepted for who they are and understand they need to put themselves first.

Since creating Not Another Vet Nurse I have found there are thousands (15,700 currently to be exact) who feel the same. I have found my purpose in life finally. To help others see their worth. To help promote mental health and suicide awareness.

I hope you find this group as special to you as I do. Not Another Vet Nurse shall ever die at their own hands. You are not alone.

Lots of love,

Shena
